剛開始是在學校看到有同學在阿裏推打摺網http://www.alitui.com/remai/買瞭這個版本，我翻瞭下質量蠻好的之後就開始迷戀瞭 之前在印度旅行的時候買瞭原版書Unaccustomed Earth，非常好的一本小說集。寫齣瞭印度第二代移民在中西方文化之間的遊蕩和碰撞，遠離和迴歸。

這位作者的書國內齣版瞭三本，本本經典，不是文學上的珠穆朗瑪峰那種高度，屬於平原風光的旖旎，有些發現非常微妙，切入非常巧妙，值得收藏閱讀。之前的《疾病解說者》與《同名人》都是頂呱呱的，《同名人》屬於長篇，一點也不亞於她的短篇，敘述沉穩流暢，沒有太多火化，卻能...

以後要是教英文係，一定會把這本書推薦給學生。作者很擅長用樸素平時的語言勾勒齣人與人之間復雜微妙的情感。每個短片都有不同的敘事視角，每個細節都閤情閤理地安排在敘事結構中，不多不少，連貫一緻。要搞英文創作，這是一本不錯的範例。

整體水平不如第一本短篇小說集，但是最後一個故事完完全全擊敗我瞭，I am a hopeless romantic.

幾天時間聽完瞭這本書，可能也是讓我感覺很喪的原因之一。無法跨越的隔閡和不被理解的悲傷。lost in translation.
