完整读完的第一本英文原版书。这本书词汇比较简单，句子也都较短，阅读理解起来非常容易。这是《生命最后的读书会》里提到过的一本书，讲述的是作者自己从一个喜欢Rap的天真少年变成了嗑药杀人的士兵，之后被联合国儿童基金组织从军队中救出康复，最后逃离出塞拉利昂的回忆录。作者和几个小伙伴本来只是喜欢Rap的少年，内战爆发的时候与家人失散，一路逃荒，在赶到很有希望见到自己父母所在的村子前叛军进攻了该村，作者之后加入了军队，训练、大麻、毒品、开枪杀人、割喉杀死俘虏成为了他的日常生活，而这时他还只是一个十三四岁的孩子。想起类反恐24小时里有一集就演到了非洲的童军，被军官洗脑，成为了被毒品控制不会思考只会杀人的武器。这本书为我们揭开了童军士兵的真实故事，他们也曾经是天真善良的儿童，但一旦成为童军就无法回头。
