刚出场的俄狄浦斯并不讨喜，怀疑他妻舅/母舅伪造神谕妄图篡位什么的，他的急躁的性格真是几十年都没变过，歧路弑父也是因为暴躁，而他那个亲生父亲也是一样脾气。。。即便如此，命运的捉弄也简直太过了，简直是连环套，而且死结。俄狄浦斯以为弑杀前王就是他最大的担心目标，不知道更加宏大的报复紧随其后，并全方位地吞噬他。这种处于一个困境，而更大的困境压下来这样一种模式，这个剧算是先声吧。欧里庇得斯的《赫卡柏》模式也有点类似，赫卡柏一系列悲惨遭遇被她为子复仇的壮举而暂时中止，但复仇结束，她又回到先前的处境，甚至更糟: 她注定会变成一条狗，只不过这些对她来说都已经不重要了。

太惨烈。人真的永远摆脱不了命运的绑架。Sophocles告诉我们其实我们的命已经被设计好了，将来的路也被设计好了。反抗命运在作者眼里无异于逆着世界潮流，顺者则昌，逆着则亡。
