關於性的那章，解除瞭我一直以來的疑惑。如果隻靠變異，一個基因要消亡必須是所有個體的消亡，並且沒有後代，非常殘酷。如果是這樣，我們有這麼多共性，必然是共祖的，那也不太像。正解應該是性，可以融閤基因，同時逐漸把壞基因淡齣，這樣就比較溫和。

跋的最後一段，讀來仿佛讀到物種起源結尾時的感受，摘錄於此：It is a most wonderful thing to share so much with the life around us on this blue-green marble,floating through the bleak infinity of space.There is more than grandeur in this view of life.There is fallibility and majesty,and the best human eagerness to know.
