書分兩編，上部談韋伯世博會之旅，圍繞他在不同城市見聞和交友展開，下部談韋伯在美國的繼受。前者偏檔案何史實，略瑣碎；對韋伯生活和工作不熟悉或不感興趣就覺得極為枯燥。後者談思想史和知識社會學，大手筆，還有猛料，覺得很過癮。本書中有關帕森斯的翻譯評價值得一看，有關韋伯在美國的繼受曆史也有必要一讀。最後，很高興有一段時間住在韋伯演講和參觀的城市，且與之相距不過15分鍾步行路程。

終於沒有耐性全文讀完瞭，太冗長和細碎瞭，最多的感嘆無非是“Weber is using sociological lens to understand American in his trip." 其餘的感覺Chapter 4 (Congress of Arts and Science) 和 Part 2的Chapter 11-13 值得讀一下 Christine
