His second book for teens, He Forgot to Say Goodbye, won the Tomás Rivera Mexican American Children’s Book Award, the Southwest Book Award, and was named a New York Public Library Book for the Teen Age. He teaches creative writing at the University of Texas, El Paso.

在我看来这本书不是单纯的讲述lgbt的问题，而是讲述一个青少年如何不断去纠正自我的认知，寻找自我的路径。之所以这本书能够这么契合自己的原因在于，自己和ari当时一样迷茫的不知所措。他不断的询问自己那一点点不舒服的感觉来源于哪里，我同样想知道那种不契合的点是从何而来。但至少ari最后找到了原因，而对于现在的自己而言，lgbt的问题根本没有复杂到不可解，而别的一些无法言明的问题可能更吞噬人心。

前面一百页主题大概是二代移民的身份认同，与父母姐姐哥哥同龄人的关系协调（which我都不感兴趣，很丧，主角都有点weird还有点自闭的既视感，句子很简单但是这么絮絮叨叨散漫我也没有觉得ari烦人，很难得了，但是我真的只想看点开心的甜文，120页左右忽然抓马的无厘头车祸我忍不下去了
