就像書評寫的一樣，這是一本很耐讀的曆史讀物，然而當我興緻勃勃把它讀完，發現並不像我預期的那樣好，也許是我也開始漸漸習慣瞭讀那些枯燥的存曆史讀物瞭，麵對這樣一本文字優美的好像一部小說或故事集一樣的書，竟感到很不對味，似乎看過之後，也沒長多少知識，因為有些...

這本書我讀得還是很失敗的。最近讀《明朝那些事兒》，更發現瞭這點。我嚮來不適閤讀《人類的故事》《蘇菲的世界》這樣的書（雖然是都讀完瞭），讀瞭後麵忘瞭前麵的，又懶得刻意記些人名什麼的，搞得前麵讀得查理大帝還很嗨後麵就忘瞭他是哪國的瞭。我是不是上twitter上得話嘮瞭...

其實，這種“微言大義”或者“戲說曆史”的文章是高談闊論的絕佳材料。隻是近代部分偏離史實太多。作者又動不動把曆史人物和古人戲劇化和臉譜化，想把萬惡中世紀和教會裝成天使，而又估計省略前者婊子的行徑。 just a 吐槽而已。

每一章的篇幅是一兩頁，語言簡單風趣，簡筆畫插圖和地圖很可愛，沒有讀曆史常用的沉重厭煩感。的確是淺顯，但作為啓濛讀物，針對青少年讀者，我覺得這已經非常優秀，足夠引起讀者的興趣。如果想深入瞭解，可以進一步深入細化閱讀其他歷史書嘛。

房龍教授的這本雖然是寫給青少年的，但對於我們來說，依然是一本不錯的歐洲曆史讀物。由於作者的一些地理和時間局限性，有些的曆史進程和影響的描述並沒有像斯塔夫裏阿諾斯教授那樣深入和那種縱觀全球的融會貫通，但這也讓作者能有更多的筆墨來客觀的講述一些引人入勝的故事。我很喜歡房龍的講述風格，不過如果用更為苛刻的角度來看，它也隻能是一本非常不錯的兒童讀物。
