Carver's short stories ought to be named fine writings, for its accurately used words, and without any extra rhetorics, therefore forming a style of cool. I like it. It remind me of Hemmingway. Moreover, the stories all concern about the normal people. Some may despite it, but I'd like to tell you: it's what we are short of indeed.

收錄的A small, good thing在《論愛情》中是“the bath”，對比就知道卡佛修改創作的習慣，好奇是什麼讓他突然把一個冷淡不安的故事改成瞭一個稍稍溫暖的廚房故事。另，一猜想：卡佛寫短篇除瞭自己說的窮之外，顯然短篇更容易起名字，大量小說標題都來自人物對話。
