Lois Lowry is known for her versatility and invention as a writer. She was born in Hawaii and grew up in New York, Pennsylvania, and Japan. After several years at Brown University, she turned to her family and to writing. She is the author of more than thirty books for young adults, including the popular Anastasia Krupnik series. She has received countless honors, among them the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award, the Dorothy Canfield Fisher Award, the California Young Reader.s Medal, and the Mark Twain Award. She received Newbery Medals for two of her novels, NUMBER THE STARS and THE GIVER. Her first novel, A SUMMER TO DIE, was awarded the International Reading Association.s Children.s Book Award. Lowry now divides her time between Cambridge and an 1840s farmhouse in Maine.

前幾日聊起烏托邦與反烏托邦，突然想起來10多年前看過的這本書。12，3歲的時候有段時間特彆癡迷lois lowry，她的書基本都看過，但是現在已經記不起當時看完有怎樣的感觸。應該重新讀一遍這本書，再去翻翻那時候的日記，一定會有不一樣的發現

接觸的第一本反烏托邦的小說。看小說的時候一直好奇一個事情，雖然書名叫《The Giver》但是書中的大部分的筆墨都在描述The Receiver，但是一看完就覺得其實每個Receiver最後都會變成Giver，就像對大傢而言Jonas是個Receiver，但對於Gabriel他卻是個Giver. 最後感想就是：誰都不知道和風細雨的社會錶象的背後藏著多少的血雨腥風，鼓吹平等的烏托邦社會在作者的諷刺下如何的醜態百齣。
