酷儿理论作为后结构主义和解构主义的重要一环，不仅是性别研究的利器，也可以更加宽泛地用于与身份和认同有关的文化研究。在后结构和解构的背景下，研究者要秉持的是一种多元主体视角以及身份的不唯一性，要看到alternative和diffusion而不仅仅是专注于unification和solidarity。当然，在接下来的后现代主义中，权力/知识与话语令人的主体性都不存在了，不再是我说话而成了话说我。不过这前后也不是割裂和不可衔接的，毕竟，就算主体性和本体消弭于无形，但曾经的载体还在，也就足以承载和展现不同的话语和建构了。本书语言比较规矩和模式化，条理还算清晰，而且提到的作者和观点可以整合出一个后续研究的书单，作为入门书十分称职。
