Peter F. Drucker was considered one of management's top thinkers. As the author of more than 35 books, his ideas have had an enormous impact on shaping the modern corporation.

In 2002, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. During his lifetime, Drucker was a writer, teacher, philosopher, reporter, consultant, and professor at the Peter F. Drucker and Masatoshi Ito Graduate School of Management at Claremont Graduate University.

Drucker passed away in 2005.

What makes an effective executive? The measure of the executive, Peter F. Drucker reminds us, is the ability to "get the right things done." This usually involves doing what other people have overlooked as well as avoiding what is unproductive. Intelligence, imagination, and knowledge may all be wasted in an executive job without the acquired habits of mind that mold them into results. Drucker identifies five practices essential to business effectiveness that can, and must, be learned: Managing time Choosing what to contribute to the organization Knowing where and how to mobilize strength for best effect Setting the right priorities Knitting all of them together with effective decision-making Ranging widely through the annals of business and government, Peter F. 斷斷續續看完，寫一點自己的感想。 首先管理者的時間非常稀有。處在管理崗位的人總會有各種不能擺脫的協調、溝通、接待、會議等工作占據大量的時間，如果不能將時間閤理安排，很快就會陷入泥淖之中。時間安排有很多方法論，核心都是要盡量保證有大塊時間用在最重要的事情上，...

用 Kindle 讀的, 很不錯。 Kindle 還顯示瞭書中被很多人收集的名言警句, 這是讀紙質書沒有的體驗。 不過由於寫作時代的原因, 書中的例子都是距今50 年以上, 從早期GM, AT&T 的總裁到60年代的國防部長 馬剋拉馬拉. 當代中國的讀者感受未必深刻。

讀過一點點，管理和技術一樣——不可說，但是經典書上寫的都挺好的，要多學習，knowledge worker

時間不夠的看最後的conclusion也是很有收獲的。其實盡管對於當公司管理者沒有興趣，這些方法用來管理自己也是很有用的——畢竟自我就是一個甚至比公司還要復雜的機構。
