My first and last DFW book & the best and worst DFW. All is there, themes, skills, obsessions, self-hatred & self indulgence, but no way to separate disease from genius. Now I reread it with more nostalgia & sympathy than admiration & enjoyment.

其中一篇展示瞭DFW深深埋藏的perverse sense of humor: 讓一個得瞭癌快要死的心理分析師治療一個因為無法忍受自己而最終自殺的人。如果Holden有個evil twin, 長大瞭大概就是good old neon 主人公這幅樣子。DFW從來就沒能從自己築起的迷宮裏走齣來。
