HANNAH ARENDT was born in Hanover, Germany, in 1906, fled to Paris in 1933, and came to the United States after the outbreak of World War II. She was the editorial director of Schocken Books from 1946 to 1948. She taught at Berkeley, Princeton, the University of Chicago, and The New School for Social Research. Among her other books are The Human Condition, On Revolution, and The Life of the Mind. She died in 1975.

阿伦特对于“射向未来的过去之光”的探讨，可以让人重新审视历史，古典哲学从而知道该如何跨过通往未来的“裂缝”。本来是因为豆瓣删除中文译本条目而去一探究竟，没想到被很好地上了一课（感恩）。关于自由，权威，科学的章节真的很有启发性。

豆瓣删除阿伦特的这本文集中文版的条目而导致一番热议与建目删目的拉锯战，遂仔细读了一遍，读完有惊艳之感！这就是以随笔面目出现的阿伦特思想指南啊。阿伦特对科学主义单兵独进的“进步”充满忧虑，希望人们拾取失落的古典智慧，唤起以“奠基”和“创始”为代表性的“传统”，她不断提醒人们当“过去不再把它的光芒照向未来，人们的心灵便在晦暗中游荡”。据说是因为阿伦特在这本书里对马克思的评价触碰了某些人的神经导致它在豆瓣下架，但是阿伦特只是在思想史的视角指出马克思思想的内在矛盾而已，完全不是站在某种敌对政治立场上的攻击，如果连这都不能容忍，那我看伯林、波普尔、哈耶克等一众自由派著作早晚都保不住。保卫阿伦特，就是保卫豆瓣！

（读的是中文版，豆瓣没条目，漂流到此地。实在太喜欢阿伦特的文字了！）1，过去，老柏说，哲学是远离政治；现在，老马说，行动，just do it!过去与未来之间，因“他”（卡夫卡寓意的人）的站立之处而被打断，成为现在。2，克尔凯郭尔、老马、尼采的反传统深深根植于传统。3，历史是用记忆的方式将“有死性”的个体的人易碎的言辞与行动变为书面文字；哲学家通过无行、无言到达不朽的邻近所在。现代，历史变成一个人造的过程；人在无限时空的世俗中“活动”而不是“信仰”；“无限”的“现代历史”本身成为了不朽。最后，对何为威权与自由、教育与文化危机的讨论，对真理与政治、对太空的征服以及人的地位的讨论。

#阿伦特自己曾说这是她最好的一本书因为形式是exercise 重视对概念的辨析语词的历史起源。前一半似乎好过后一半特别是对tradition及其三种失败的颠覆（马克思祁克果尼采）progress的历史观的分析很透彻虽然不熟悉古代史基督教史不好判断
