书几乎到了一半才开始讲到编词典伏笔实在太长编词典这件事很迷人一个内战里受创的美国人发了神经病杀了人被判无罪关在病院大半辈子只爱读书这事也很迷人但是合在一起居然并没有很好看

作者很会埋伏笔，所谓的草蛇灰线伏延千里。书开头的那个故事，多么的感人，书里说是romantic，哈哈，原来是后人所编。Minor虽然为牛津大字典做了如此大的贡献，但对于他自己来说，这个成就也只是稍稍减轻了一下病情，他一生大部分的时间都在和这个病魔抗争，包括他的谋杀罪。如果你对此书的关联事项有兴趣，例如编辑大词典的具体过程，书后还有推荐书目。字里行间，可看出作者是基于事实写作的这本书，不是fiction对吧？有知道这个问题的答案的请不吝指教。谢谢。还有这书很适合背单词。

非常棒。作者很会讲故事，记者出身的人写作风格言简意赅，没有废话，而且有根有据，非常严谨。这个故事很棒，但是不会写的话会显得很无趣。像他说的，它astonishing but wretchedly sad，而这种种都被他完整地传递出来了。真的很棒。

啧啧，要不要编个牛津词典也卖腐。米英大法好好好。以及牛津词典的编写耗时之长，人力之多，真的只能用传奇来形容。参观完其编辑部就更有体会了
