文本性的角度对作者意图、以及作者能看到的文本的要求很高，而且书中提出的互文性要迟至《乐府诗集》才彻底实现，不免有拿着乐府诗集的文本形态倒着回去读单篇诗作的意思（尤其是第四章）。正好和Shields写《花间集》做个对比，类似的思路，放在花间集合适很多。讨论互文，本身是去历史化的（二四两章），但全书又显示出很强的对诗体发展历史的预设，把乐府看作是一个以《乐府诗集》为终点线的“过程”。此外Allen对intratextuality的定义很大程度上把它框定在了同一乐府诗题下的不同诗作之间，但实际讨论时主题、修辞、语词的流动性与共享往往溢出了这个限定范围。对饮马长城窟行的阅读有些勉强，然后第四章的四位讨论对象不太容易捏到一起去。不过最奇怪的大概是全书对voice根本就没怎么着墨…
