Internet businesses have encouraged these contentious activities, generating an unusual synergy between capitalism and civil organizations that sponsor critique. Based on ten years of meticulous research and grounded in theories of social movements and the public sphere, Yang’s study emphasizes the mutual shaping of technology and society and highlights the important role of a transnational diaspora in the making of a Chinese Internet culture. In conclusion, Yang argues that online activism reflects important structural changes in contemporary China and points to a new era of informational politics.

為什麼“過時”的批評是不適宜用在這本書（或者這類書）上？引用我導師的話...這些研究體現瞭當互聯網剛齣生時期的樣貌。而我認為其中有幾章的理論和概念提齣地特彆得好。

實際上，在綫活動主義抵製和規避集中信息控製並創造新的思維和行動方式的程度上，它確實形成瞭公民參與的模式，最終可能導緻製度變革和更民主的結構。然而，當涉及到瞭解中國互聯網上無數爭論的含義時，未來的學術探究需要超越過程態勢調查。楊的書引領著對中國互聯網研究的一個值得稱贊的趨勢，中國互聯網越來越意識到我們生活世界的分裂和解放本質。調查網絡行動主義的興起，形式和動態，以便於檢查蓬勃發展的多維度、異質性和復調性文化多元化的方式，提供瞭一個有趣的敘事，基於這些敘述可以想象這些新的軌跡和概念。然而，隻有通過更多基於實地的研究和認識到“方法論個人主義”（methodological individualism）的位置，我們纔有可能完成這一挑戰。Via.
