作者简介：

约翰•D. 巴罗（John D. Barrow），生于1952年，英国剑桥大学应用数学与理论物理学系教授，研究领域涉及宇宙学、天体物理、引力理论、天体粒子物理等，发表有四百多篇学术论文。1986，他和弗兰克•梯普勒合著的《人择宇宙原理》（The Anthropic Cosmological Principle）成为该主题的经典著作。他见证了宇宙学自20世纪70年代末以来的进展，目前正活跃于宇宙学的前沿领域。

他也是位知名科普作家，至今已出版二十多本数学、物理学、天文学方面的科普著作，包括《读心术的把戏》、《艺术宇宙》、《无限大的秘密》、《无之书》、《宇宙的起源》、《大自然的常数》、《不论》、《天空中的圆周率》等。

2002年3月，由他编剧的话剧《无限》（Infinities）在米兰首演，广受好评，并荣获了当年意大利戏剧界最高荣誉“乌布奖”（Premio Ubu）的“年度最佳剧目奖”。
