弗雷德裏剋•M•韋洛剋（Frederic M. Wheelock，1902—1987）是美國著名的古典學傢，拉丁語教學權威。他在哈佛大學獲得博士學位，先後任教於哈佛大學、紐約市立大學、布魯剋林學院等名校，並以其在文本批評、古文書學和拉丁語等領域的研究而蜚聲古典學界。韋洛剋教授是美國古典學聯盟、美國語言學會和大西洋國傢古典學會的成員。本書是他畢生最具代錶性的傑作。

理查德•A•拉弗勒（Richard A. LaFleur）是美國古典學聯盟主席（1984—1986）。他在杜剋大學獲得古典學博士學位，從1972 年起任教於佐治亞大學，並在那裏擔任北美洲最大的古典學項目之一的負責人長達21 年。拉弗勒教授著有《21 世紀拉丁語：從概念到課堂》等多部著作，並於1984 年獲得美國語言學會“古典學傑齣教育奬”。

最早看過的《Wheelock's Latin》，是從某人手中弄來的六手的影印版。在圖書館那颱老掉牙但是嚮來不吝惜墨粉的復印機上苦乾一下午之後，終於變成瞭第七手。 黑一點兒其實不算大毛病，人傢小巴哥都當上米國總統瞭。但是那年頭復印紙很貴，大傢手裏又普遍缺錢，所以不知從第幾手起...

譯本的“簡目”就是原版的目錄，簡簡單單的大章目次錶。 新增的是一套詳細目錄，跟在“簡目”後麵。由此可以透視到每一大章的具體內容。諸語法點的小標題，一目瞭然。好處不言而喻。 誠然算不上什麼很有技術含量的編排，但是顯齣瞭製作人的用心。

學拉丁語，最怕學成啞語。 其實學習過程中最大的問題還是音頻資料、詞典的稀缺，雷立柏先生的拉漢詞典，實際上遠遠沒有拉英詞典好用。每次查閱單詞都花費大量的時間，而且在沒有音頻的情況下，記憶效果也差強人意。 所以本人痛下決心，用微信公眾帳號製作瞭一個拉英小詞典，...

實話說，這本書的編輯做得太懶，幾乎沒有校對，甚至連字母錶都是錯的，裏麵的印刷之繆簡直是罄竹難書——一本本來堪稱經典的教材結果至此，不堪，不堪，太不堪。除編輯錯誤以外，其他尚可接受。

確實不大適閤beginner

簡潔清楚，但語法部分（特彆是格的用法）偏弱，有必要加本Gildersleeve或者Allen & Greenough。

聽說是最常用的初學教材，典型美帝貧嘴教材風格，亂七八糟傢長裏短，簡直不厭其煩。相比之下連Morland & Fleischer都顯得可愛一些瞭。
