硃利安·巴恩斯(1946- )　英國當代最具影響力的作傢之一。生於英格蘭，畢業於牛津大學，曾參與《牛津英語詞典》的編纂工作，做過多年的文學編輯和評論傢。他著有十餘部長篇小說，其中《福樓拜的鸚鵡》最為膾灸人口，奠定瞭他在英國文壇的地位。

若是一本文學性高、又不是非常非常小眾的書，豆瓣讀書的評語都讓我感到無可復加。。我隻是慶幸這本書是由十個小故事加半段理論闡述組成，於是任由我的夜班巔來倒去也不用擔心自己遺忘瞭過去讀過的重要細節。若要我說一下對這本書的印象，一位豆友總結得太好：“精神病人思路廣。”

前幾個chapter簡直brilliant. 感覺又讀到瞭一個不一樣的Barnes, capable of sending laughter and shudder simultaneously to his readers. 超愛宗教審判woodworm那一章(oh into the darkness of imbecility fell Hugo the Bishop)，準備攻讀”the criminal prosecution and capital punishment of animals”, just for context.
