在瞭解我們那個奇怪鄰居的問題上，這本書是一個很好的注解，可以避免國內作者習慣性的偏見。西方研究者對日本人和對中國人一樣不瞭解，反而可以中立的對我們進行比較。

從寫作背景和預期的效用來講不清楚是否能冠以偉大之名但必然是一部經典在戰後七十多年纔閱讀自然需要帶著曆史局限性的鑒彆意識然而作為西方人能對日本做齣如此細緻到巔毫的解讀著實堪比愚公移山之功即便在鄰國中國也鮮有見到類似相近的作品 // 必須提一下這位十九世紀齣生的作者語言功力尤其是擺弄超長句的功力十分瞭得小生大把時間在思考如何斷句主語是啥這句到底是肯定還是否定單詞相比倒是小問題瞭
