对小白来说是挺好的一个梳理epistemology的东西，至于书中所言的experiment，对我个人而言，是相对于一个我不太熟悉也无法想像（比如essentialist/functionalist mapping of cultural meaning system）人类学的早期探索而言的，所以从今天回看所提的experiment未见得很新。但是是一个把民族志研究的认识论、本体论、power以及writing几个主题勾连起来的佳作，在这个意义上给我个人很多启发。当然，书非常地美国中心主义，让它对萨义德的批判显得有些讽刺

看了aihwa ong对这本书的批判，恍然发现：哎呀，这么多东西我怎么没读出来呢？总结起来，最重要的原因在于：学者自我意识的觉醒。当你是一个啥都觉得新鲜的学生的时候，你很难把自己situate到学科共同体之中思考问题，你经常不知道自己会或者将会站在什么样的立场发言。
