吉莉恩•罗斯（Gillian Rose），英国开放大学（The Open University）文化地理学教授，当前研究领域集中在当代视觉文化和视觉方法论等。普通的、日常的观看方式以及在家庭和公共空间观看的效果，是其兴趣所在。她主持了一项以家庭照为研究对象的长期课题，该课题旨在检视在全球视觉经济中，作为视觉对象的家庭照，在一系列不同实践活动间的传播。课题的研究成果《家庭摄影活动：家庭、公众和情感的政治》（Doing Family Photography: The Domestic, The Public and The Politics of Sentiment）已于2010年由Ashgate出版社正式出版发行。考察规划都市空间的经验是她最近主持的另一个研究课题，该课题由英国经济与社会研究委员会资助（www.urban-experience.net）。不过耗时最长的课题还是本书。

肖伟胜，男，1970年生，西南大学文学院教授、文学博士、博士生导师、副院长，主要从事西方美学与视觉文化研究。主持“‘文化转向’与视觉文化研究”、“‘语言学转向’与视觉方法论研究”、“视觉文化与图像意识研究”等多项国家社科基金重点项目、教育部人文社科项目等课题。撰有《视觉文化与图像意识》、《视觉文化与当代文化批评》、《现代性困境中的极端体验》等学术专著。曾在《文艺研究》、《文学评论》、《二十一世纪》（香港）等核心刊物发表论文60余篇，其中多篇被全文复印或转载。

Visual Methodologies is an introduction to reading visual culture. It explains which methods are available to the undergraduate student and shows exactly how to use them.
