He was awarded the Jean Nicod Prize in 2000.

想到个问题：（a）大学期末考期间通过对往年题进行泛化学习，从而拿到高分的人和（b）赛尔“中文房间”里那个靠词典翻译中文并用纸条交流的人有什么本质区别？答：在（b）里，一个“在外面”的观察者，只能产生出房间里的人会中文的印象；而（a），批卷老师只需凭借先验知识，就知道答得再好的人也大概率什么都不会（悲）
