譯者丁篤本，畢業於北京大學曆史係世界史專業，先後任湖南師範大學曆史係講師、副教授、教授，博士生導師，曆史係主任，研究生院院長。2002年調入韶關學院任院長。專業方嚮為俄蘇史、中亞史。精通俄文和英文，曾於1992年至1993年在俄羅斯做訪問學者。主要著作有《紅旗落地——蘇聯社會主義70年真相》、《蘇聯政體與官製史》、《世界之發現》、《中亞通史》（現代捲），翻譯有《健康與權力："剋裏姆林宮醫生"迴憶錄》。
