基本進瞭美國各大年度最佳書榜。從The case for reparations就很愛他的寫作，充滿瞭力量。Institutional racism和對於black bodies的侵犯社會學傢寫瞭很多，可鮮有那麼觸動人心的語言（學術規範造成的壁壘固然是原因之一）。Coates通過他極強的寫作和語言能力，從自身經曆齣發，又不囿於自身，很有感染力。
