Tender, delicate and full of metaphor. 帕慕剋的故事令人著迷。圍繞一個母題展開的小說很容易因過度的關聯而顯得拙劣做作，然而帕慕剋卻能做到如此的精緻且自然。正如一位讀者試圖讓他解釋其中的一個段落時他所迴答的一樣：“無須解釋，文字所寫即我所思。”

檢驗作傢文字功力的一個標準便是當他的文字被譯成不同語言時，仍能保持其獨特的細膩的、聯想式的語言魅力。故事很簡單精悍，卻擁有強大令人癡迷和思考的力量，無論是俄狄浦斯的弑父還是東方羅斯坦的殺子，神話悲劇的震撼點在於它不可抗的宿命論，而世俗化的故事，迴歸人性本源的掙紮、迷惘，尋求臍帶血緣、又反叛父權的心理。帕慕剋還是保留著一貫的西化後東方古國子民的質疑，迷失和反省。裏麵關於伊朗的那段思考極其吸引人，在讀書的過程中忍不住去查閱亞細亞的古曆史。
