皮埃尔•阿多（1922—2010），一个值得英语和汉语世界深入研究的法国哲学家，法兰西学院荣誉教授。主要研究方向是古希腊哲学，甚至可以认为他是世界范围内研究古代哲学的权威。他是福柯最欣赏的哲学家之一，也是把维特根斯坦介绍到法国的主要人物。

虽然以研究古代哲学著称，但阿多并不只是一个哲学史家，毋宁说他是一个利用古代哲学来阐述自己思想的哲学家。他一再阐述的思想就是：哲学是一种活的经验，而不是一堆教条。阿多的主要著作有：《哲学的智慧》、《作为一种生活方式的哲学》、《内部城堡：马克•奥勒留的沉思》、《普罗提诺斯或朴素的直观》等。

hadot这种让你感觉he knows everything just sit down and listen的writer我其实不能算特别enjoy吧。而且我个人感觉他提到oriental/buddhism的部分有点过于inaccurate了（当然他本人说了对所有comparative的东西持保留意见）。但是读了他另一本书里叫the sage and the world的chapter，反而觉得非常喜欢，也许是因为尽管他这篇只字未提任何佛教相关，内核却其实非常zen。
