Everything Japanese is elegant and beautiful. Everything French is vulgar and hypocritical. 她们需要一个有钱而又有品味的日本老先生来validate她们存在的意义。车祸是法国小说里反复出现的对无常的阐释吗？Or to stop abruptly before life gets too real again? Overall a clever novel due to the interesting characters. (Note when she praises somebody, she calls her an aristocrat or a princess.)

这是本优点与缺点非常显而易见的书。可惜的是，不知是否由于英文译本的原因，读起来总觉得少了点什么。给两分的原因是我喜欢书里的哲学问题及思考，这也是我唯一喜欢这本书的地方了。但作为小说的话，书里的人物不可信，对我而言这就绝对就是败笔了。整本书读下来的感觉就是作者需要这么几个人来阐述她的哲学观点和对人生的思考。虽然不到傲慢的说教口吻，但确实让人时不时要停下来说“今天我读够了你的观点了”。所以我在想，如果作者写一本essay collection, 就呈现她的很多有意思很有启发的哲学思考，反而可能表达得更有效。

在FBL的推荐下读完了这本书。法国小说真是让我找回了童年时候整个整个夏天趴在房间木地板上尽情读小说的情景... 爸妈在家的时候，写作业的时候看小说还要把小说藏起来... 这本书里那个小姑娘真让我产生共鸣。最后还是不出所料的是一个悲伤的故事。

喜歡轉換視角的描述。內容沒覺得有什麼意思。英文譯本翻譯的坑坑窪窪，反而是中譯本可讀性更強。雖然已經算是高產的譯者，但是這個譯本實在是水準欠佳。

1、跟电影不同，小说是双线叙事，第一人称，人物也更多。但各有好处。2、里面有多处有关哲学和艺术的深入讨论，应该是作者的夫子自道，出自中老年女文青之口总觉得不太妥帖。3、骨子里仍然是通俗浪漫小说，结尾的方式尤其如此。4、不知主人公是否是前所未见的典型人物。
