一本相當具有價值的big book, 平剋用各種人類殘酷的曆史和行為、數據、和其他學者的研究，涵蓋瞭各類學科包括瞭心理學、曆史、人類學等等，論述為什麼人類的暴力會下降到今天如此低的水平。要解釋如此復雜的人類行為，實在很不容易。看完收獲相當大。這本書的中文版叫《人性中的善良天使》，我剛好也有中文版，對比瞭中英兩版的一些內容，發現中文版關於中國的內容有多處刪改，有條件還是看英文原版比較好。

研究生畢業論文翻的這篇，從語言風格和政治立場看以為作者是個嚴肅正經的保守派學者，昨天看瞭他的ted纔發現他語速極快語調飄逸加上一頭亂發，更確切的形容應該是mad scientist.

書很厚，乾貨頗多。用數據展示為什麼雖然看新聞讓人覺得世界人民都生活在水深火熱之中，但相比之前現代的殘酷和暴力確實是在不斷減少的，並分析瞭決定暴力與和平的種種因素。現代生活雖然也有煩惱甚至痛苦，但長輩們的憶苦思甜也是有道理的。然而國際形勢風雲詭變，隻盼有生之年彆碰上什麼黑天鵝就好瞭。
