Exposing a shocking, previously-hidden world to his readers, Orwell gave a human face to the statistics of poverty for the first time - and in doing so, found his voice as a writer. Eric Arthur Blair (1903-1950), better known by his pen-name, George Orwell, was born in India, where his father worked for the Civil Service. An author and journalist, Orwell was one of the most prominent and influential figures in twentieth-century literature. His unique political allegory "Animal Farm" was published in 1945, and it was this novel, together with the dystopia of "Nineteen Eighty-Four" (1949), which brought him world-wide fame. All his novels and non-fiction, including "Burmese Days" (1934), "Down and Out in Paris and London" (1933), "The Road to Wigan Pier" (1937) and "Homage to Catalonia" (1938) are published in "Penguin Modern Classics". 早幾年讀可能會關注底層生活瑣碎故事。現在明白流浪漢不隻是個人選擇，也有社會原因。書中少有長評，最觸動的是：He lives in a rhythm between work and sleep, without time to think, hardly conscious of the exterior world; his Paris has shrunk to the hotel, the Metro, a few bistros and his bed.……To sum up, a plongeur is a slave, and a wasted slave——不要成為潛水員（plongeur），警醒自己：保持上進，多多社交，好好理財--2018年第23本，kindle第36本

我的英語的閱讀爛速度和中文完全不能比啊。不過讀起來還是略震撼的。不過感覺語言不夠簡潔，畢竟是早期作品。再次覺得奧威爾好厲害！

特彆喜歡寫巴黎小酒館打工的見聞。還有我作為一個中國人看英國人吐槽法國人跟美國人對吃的品味23333。很引人深思的一本書，並且在苦逼工作麵試被拒期間覺得各種有共鳴覺得相比之下自己生活還不是太壞。然而倫敦部分不好意思我看瞭兩遍都沒太看進去講瞭啥。

有點震撼。畢竟剛刷完一圈雷濛德，似有異麯同工。底層種種難道不應該被投以更切切目光?奧同學的美好文筆早期已然。又是一個想要一點點探究的作者。今所遇見夢幻仙境的一個引子?(跟後來看到的報告文學又有相似略傷感)
