Kazuo Ishiguro OBE, FRSA, FRSL (Japanese: 石黒一雄; born 8 November 1954) is a British novelist. He was born in Nagasaki, Japan; his family moved to England in 1960 when he was five. Ishiguro obtained his Bachelor's degree from the University of Kent in 1978 and his Master's from the University of East Anglia's creative-writing course in 1980.

Ishiguro is one of the most celebrated contemporary fiction authors in the English-speaking world, having received four Man Booker Prize nominations, and winning the 1989 award for his novel The Remains of the Day. In 2008, The Times ranked Ishiguro 32nd on their list of "The 50 greatest British writers since 1945".

It is set in post-World War II Japan and is narrated by Masuji Ono, an ageing painter, who looks back on his life and how he has lived it. He notices how his once great reputation has faltered since the war and how attitudes towards him and his paintings have changed. The chief conflict deals with Ono's need to accept responsibility for his past actions. The novel attempts to ask and answer the question: what is man's role in a rapidly changing environment?

我理解卻並不喜歡。同樣是描述戰爭中的誌嚮抱負，更喜歡宮崎駿的《起風瞭》裏主人公的內心矛盾，在《起風瞭》中，主人公明晰地知道自己的誌嚮也許會被投入到戰爭當中被政客所利用，在夢想的實現過程中，他同樣背負瞭很多壓力（病妻）和內心的摺磨。而這些痛苦的源頭毫不遲疑的...

audible 一貫的細膩描寫 結尾感覺很突然 但意外的讓整體感覺都很好

4.5. Unreliable narrator以及間接揭示關鍵信息的技巧在這一本已經相當成熟。從這本的New Japan到長日留痕裏的dignity，石黑一雄對那種基於男性特質、虛僞、遮遮掩掩而又自我感覺良好的國族與精神身份建構的揭露與打擊都是毀滅性的。
