陈蓉霞，1961年11月出生于上海市。1983年毕业于华东师范大学生物学系。1986年毕业于华东师范大学自然辩证法研究所，获哲学硕士学位。现任上海师范大学哲学学院教授。

主要著作有《进化的阶梯》、《破译生命密码》、《两性冲突》等。

主要译著有《起源之战》、《适应与自然选择》、《行走于理性的钢丝上》、《安妮的盒子》等。
