花瞭兩年時間沒事閑著讀瞭一大半，哪怕再多人贊美愛麗絲門羅，我隻能遺憾的搖搖我的頭，讀多瞭這位的小說簡直讓我有種嘔吐感，並非不敬，實在不對口味，草蛇灰綫太多瞭，就喪失新鮮感瞭也。

除瞭個彆篇目，門羅最耀眼的短篇都在這裏瞭，想偷懶隻看精華的這本足夠瞭。因是自選集，能看齣老太太的傾嚮，有些純粹是她個人關於母親和女兒不可磨滅的主題的偏好，有些是早年父母生活的描摹，有兩篇是時隔數十年重修過的版本，如果能把初版也一同收錄就好瞭，讓人一窺看齣她筆法心境的變化（但感覺老太太是從不可惜舊稿的人）剩下的則是純粹的技藝高超之作。門羅是罕見的能直接感受技藝震撼的作傢，再不諳小說筆法的人也不會完全無動於衷。train一直是我心頭好，提到的人少，被她收錄自然感動，遙遙引為知己。前言引瞭門羅一段話，大意是她之所以“敢”寫是因為生活在一個無人寫作的小鎮，不用應付高階文人。這段話很有趣，不需整日與人或被人比較，安心把一門手藝操練半生，自然越寫越純粹越寫越快樂。

渴望和誘惑，冒險和逃離，承受和忍耐。喜歡這樣鋪陳跳躍的敘述，讀起來很像生活本身。仿佛這些行為都有著足夠的解釋；仿佛自己到過某處，盡管可能永不會到達。
