濛兩位譯者厚誼，得賜此書。本來，中古史是我完全陌生的領域，又是英文迴譯，不免視為畏途。不過，全書的敘述生動有緻，兩位譯者在文筆潤色上也很下工夫。能夠感覺到，一些原文的英式句法，二賢都參酌中文錶述習慣，有所調整。因此，全書大部分為短句子，這在譯著中實為難得，...

站在現在的角度，通過諸多學術著作的對比，當然覺得書的內容比起其他史料豐富的作品來講，還有距離，這也是我覺得意猶未盡的原因 但是看下作者引用的參考文獻，所作的數據統計，換個位置，迴到60年代那個背景，又是在五代這個異常紛繁蕪雜的背景下，能將製度變遷，藩鎮、內使...
