潘卡吉‧米什拉（Pankaj Mishra）

1969年生於印度，並於新德里的尼赫魯大學取得英美文學碩士。米什拉以撰寫小說，並以Butter Chicken in Ludhiana這本關於印度的社會學研究報告聞名，另外還為《紐約書評》、《紐約時報》、《衛報》撰寫評論。2008年他被選為英國皇家文學學會（Royal Society of Literature）的會員，2012年，《外交政策》（Foreign Policy）雜誌提名他為「全球百大思想家」之一，《經濟學人》則稱他為「薩依德的繼承者」，並列其《從帝國廢墟中崛起》為「年度好書」。

有关原殖民地的对于西方的抵抗，作者仅仅将其简化为一种源自于本土的，带有乌托邦意识的文化诉求，确闭口不提这种抵抗是怎样在资本主义逻辑中被重塑的。例如，书中举了有关毛的对于乌托邦社会主义的构想来源于中国传统文化的例子，却不提中国革命在全球资本中的重新构建。难道发动一场革命的目的就是为了实现一个传统的乌托邦理想？另外，对于20世纪初期各个民族国家的兴起仅仅归因于帝国的崩溃，完全没有考虑国家的构建与帝国之间的连续性。
