第一次真正讀完一本心理學的書，還是英文原著，本以為一個月啃完，用瞭一個周，讀的酣暢淋灕，以歐洲史為基礎，分析人在各個時期freedom的變化。但是最感慨的還是書的最後：有多少你覺得自己努力追求的其實隻是周圍內化給你的，當人不再因為外在的因素而選擇職業愛情生活的時候纔是freedom。讀的過程中想到瞭民族奴性、施虐受虐型人格，放下後卻有種無力感……

有些洞見，但現在看來也有些司空見慣瞭，分析太枯燥。其實關於逃避自由的一個很有趣又小的例子就是蘋果戰勝瞭機海戰術的諾基亞。關於真正自己的討論特彆是怎樣協調計劃經濟和個性，輕輕帶過，讓人不得有“重要的是如何改造世界”的感嘆。

雖然都是common sense但讀完心灰意冷。在我們社會裏，一個健全人可能沒有一個患者精神上更健康，因為健全人通常是subordinate to external forces and give up his individuality。但是這個individual self是不是真的存在？
