弗雷德里克•M•韦洛克（Frederic M. Wheelock，1902—1987）是美国著名的古典学家，拉丁语教学权威。他在哈佛大学获得博士学位，先后任教于哈佛大学、纽约市立大学、布鲁克林学院等名校，并以其在文本批评、古文书学和拉丁语等领域的研究而蜚声古典学界。韦洛克教授是美国古典学联盟、美国语言学会和大西洋国家古典学会的成员。本书是他毕生最具代表性的杰作。

理查德•A•拉弗勒（Richard A. LaFleur）是美国古典学联盟主席（1984—1986）。他在杜克大学获得古典学博士学位，从1972 年起任教于佐治亚大学，并在那里担任北美洲最大的古典学项目之一的负责人长达21 年。拉弗勒教授著有《21 世纪拉丁语：从概念到课堂》等多部著作，并于1984 年获得美国语言学会“古典学杰出教育奖”。

实话说，这本书的编辑做得太懒，几乎没有校对，甚至连字母表都是错的，里面的印刷之缪简直是罄竹难书——一本本来堪称经典的教材结果至此，不堪，不堪，太不堪。除编辑错误以外，其他尚可接受。

译本的“简目”就是原版的目录，简简单单的大章目次表。新增的是一套详细目录，跟在“简目”后面。由此可以透视到每一大章的具体内容。诸语法点的小标题，一目了然。好处不言而喻。诚然算不上什么很有技术含量的编排，但是显出了制作人的用心。

学拉丁语，最怕学成哑语。其实学习过程中最大的问题还是音频资料、词典的稀缺，雷立柏先生的拉汉词典，实际上远远没有拉英词典好用。每次查阅单词都花费大量的时间，而且在没有音频的情况下，记忆效果也差强人意。所以本人痛下决心，用微信公众帐号制作了一个拉英小词典，...

想学拉丁语是很久以来的事情了。第一时间买到了这本教程，开始看起来，总体起来讲的还是深入浅出的，就是课后练习有些不是很知道答案，还有貌似在一两处变格的地方，呼格写错了吧。觉得貌似有一两个错误。不过总体上在中国也只有这个比较好的拉丁语教程了。

Wheelock 是欧美很多大学的拉丁文指定课本。我没用过其他教材，所以不好比较。但是我特别喜欢W里面内容翔实丰富，尤其每一课的课后练习都是从拉丁文原著中节选出来的，叫Sententiae Antiquae, 特别原汁原味，在学习的过程中很能体会到成就感。在amazon.com上还可以买到配套的练...
