異常精彩的suspense，最為精彩的就是看到最後我還是沒有看懂怎麼迴事- - 而且在正文結束後留瞭足足五頁的白紙這是為瞭哪般呢又？想到這裏突然覺得真好精彩啊。因為我-作為讀者將要返迴到書中去make my own sense out of it！

縱觀布剋奬五十多年的曆史，不乏“小格局”與“短篇幅”的作品能夠實至名歸地斬獲這一分量極重的文學奬項。例如麥剋尤恩的《阿姆斯特丹》，石黑一雄的《長日留痕》，庫切的《恥》，菲茨傑拉德的《離岸》等，再就是巴恩斯的本作。很遺憾沒有盡早讀完此書，可好書沒錯過就不算是最大的遺憾。好久沒有如此愉悅的嚴肅閱讀體驗，敘事手法有趣，情節簡明流暢，照顧讀者閱讀感受，文字雅緻，主題深度與廣度兼具。如此內容配上Knopf精心製作的精裝版，可謂“錶裏如一”的閱讀精品。讀罷感慨頗多，最深刻的思索事關“記憶” — 說到底，記憶又是什麼呢？比失憶更可怕的也許是篡改記憶、並信以為真吧？不禁想到PTSD及與其相關的一些心理臆病，可這部作品又何止觸及我所說的這一點東西呢？其中的更多妙處與精彩，還尚待讀者諸君去自行閱讀與探索。
