簡讀，放到瞭自己的文獻綜述中。首先要緻敬一個外國學者研究中國教育的好奇心與熱情，對鄒平這個地方教育人情的觀察也很獨特，個人以為他的觀點其實還是教育文化學取嚮的，將傢長對教育的重視理解為一種現代化的文化模式，即傢長相信好的教育可以幫助子女獲得優質中産階層生活甚至是國外一流美好生活這種設想本質上是現代化的一種文化模型，在後發現代性國傢，國傢、市場、學校話語共同發揮作用塑造瞭這一文化，而在中國，傳統儒傢尊師重教的話語進一步加強瞭這種文化，至少這本書不再是國內很多研究將傢長視為罪魁禍首相關研究的重復，多重話語、力量的規訓倒是值得藉鑒。還在等待其他對中國重教的解釋

作者開宗名義，為何在讀書並不一定在經濟上更有利的時代，中國人的教育意願仍然如此強烈。作者提齣在總體性社會事實中對其進行考察（沒錯就是莫斯的概念！），通過文化、governing（不隻是政府自上而下的管理，參考福柯的權力之網）和emplacement（既紮根鄒平，又放眼全國東亞全世界）進行考察。提齣中國人的教育意願是由快速工業化，人口結構轉型，文化男子氣概，國傢建設和典型錶彰這幾方麵互相糾纏互為因果的。個人感覺第四章有身體化部分的描寫是亮點。缺憾是感覺desire這個詞可以好好做下理論分析的但作者沒有，素質教育部分不如某個我忘記名字的人寫得好。
