【加】马尔科姆•格拉德威尔（Malcolm Gladwell）被《快公司》誉为“21世纪的彼得•德鲁克”，曾是《华盛顿邮报》商务科学专栏作家，目前是《纽约客》杂志专职作家。2005年被《时代》周刊评为全球最有影响力的100位人物之一。他的代表作品《引爆点》、《异类》、《眨眼之间》均创造了书市神话。《纽约时报》更是把格拉德威尔对社会思潮的影响称为“格拉德威尔效应”（Gladwell Effect）。马尔科姆出生于英格兰，是牙买加人的后裔。他在加拿大长大，现居纽约市。

Gladwell sits with Ron Popeil, the king of the American kitchen, as he sells rotisserie ovens, and divines the secrets of Cesar Millan, the "dog whisperer" who can calm savage animals with the touch of his hand. He explores intelligence tests and ethnic profiling and "hindsight bias" and why it was that everyone in Silicon Valley once tripped over themselves to hire the same college graduate.

"Good writing," Gladwell says in his preface, "does not succeed or fail on the strength of its ability to persuade. It succeeds or fails on the strength of its ability to engage you, to make you think, to give you a glimpse into someone else's head." What the Dog Saw is yet another example of the buoyant spirit and unflagging curiosity that have made Malcolm Gladwell our most brilliant investigator of the hidden extraordinary.

Malcolm Gladwell几本书的写作模式都是一个套路

读过《Tipping point》 和《Outlier》这两本书的话，就不必再读这本了。马叔毕竟是从广告行业发迹，写作风格和主题可以概括为 “意料之外，情理之中”，总是很能吸引人眼球就是了。 整部书里我个人认为值得一读的只有两章：The Talent myth: are smart people overrated? 可以对麦肯锡选拔评价人才的标准做少许了解。 The New boy network: what do job interview really tell us? 在海外读书的同学们可以了解一下老外面试的套路，即structured interview 的标准问题和一些标准答案。虽然我觉得发明这些问题的人真的是很反人性了。

寒假最后几天要补补Gladwell的书了
