It's a great story, but the primary pleasure of the book is Guterson's renderings of the people and the place.

因為是高中課本讀的時候隻覺得情節囉嗦女主個性極其討厭並且感受到白人深深的媚日情節。。

在原版的評論裏找到瞭不少共鳴，也是我看原版的感受。中文翻譯版那邊是一邊倒的好評，估計翻譯美輪美奐。原版實在太太太太太太囉嗦瞭，作者對捕魚業和種植業絕對有執念，一個船的樣子一種海上天氣一塊草莓地能寫一篇散文齣來。最突齣的愛情故事也是雞湯畫風，但還是瞭解到二戰前後日裔美國人的一些曆史，故事也是巧閤地設定在西雅圖附近的島上。想到在西雅圖的時候，我們坐在市中心某高端餐廳，美國客戶告訴我們，“西雅圖市中心這塊地全是日本人的”，看完書現在大概知道瞭這種事的來龍去脈。

一開始以為是個帶點懸疑色彩的愛情故事，沒想到原來是本反戰小說。視角倒是挺獨特，氣氛渲染也頗見筆力，但情節單薄，大段大段冗長而不夠深刻的心理描寫實在有點不知所謂。
