我有個疑問：這樣的創業項目騙騙我這個純文科生也就罷瞭，為什麼一堆有理工科博士學位的大佬們都能被她騙得團團轉？各種風投專傢都跟僵屍一樣地衝她砸錢？難道都歸結於Holmes的人格魅力就完事瞭？

伊麗莎白管理下的Theranos大概是我能想象最令人恐懼的雇主。她為瞭讓員工更長時間地工作，為員工提供工作晚飯。但晚餐要到8點鍾纔會就緒，這就意味著員工至少得10點之後纔能離開辦公室。她對公司所有的信息都嚴密掌控，每個人都隻能分得碎片信息，沒有人有權限瞭解the whole picture。她極端懷疑他人，讓IT布下嚴密地監控網絡。連同事之間的即時消息都無法送達，導緻溝通效率極其低下。整個公司管理建立在secrecy和fear之上。可是人與其他生産工具不同的是，人能夠感受到痛苦。隨後Theranos砸重金試圖用一張張法律文書堵住受訪者的嘴。有些人不願同流選擇沉默離開，有些人勇敢地講述瞭真相。這兩者都很棒。如果外界條件不允許我們毫無顧慮地做我們認為最正確的事情，起碼可以選擇不做幫凶。

類似政治驚悚劇，寫得非常精彩，作者開始調查後的幾章節奏尤其好。主要聚焦於Theranos對內的混亂管理以及對外的謊言和bully。可惜作者沒有進一步采訪那些被忽悠的和沒有被忽悠的VC或者董事會成員，因此也難以真正理解創始人的魅力和缺陷在哪裏。本書遺留的問題挺多：初創公司如何平衡科研和商業化，生命科學的熱潮究竟有多可靠，如何界定商業秘密和NDA的範圍，違法行為本身是否可以受到商業機密法律的保護（個人感到在中國是不受保護的）。希望可以看到更多法律分析（但大概沒什麼人願意看）。總的想法是，盡職調查真的很重要！
