首先你是位老师或曾经是老师会产生很多共鸣，感触和理解得更为深刻些。然后迈考特的幽默和想象力那么自由的穿梭在文字间。再有就是看起来似乎自传其实是在表现当时社会现象和一些小人物的生活状态  

大一下即将开始的2月的一个晚上，我在暖气充足的图书馆里读完了这本书，几次眼眶都湿了。从来没好好想过，原来一个要面对整个教室的老师，会在上台前这样担心。我不知道人间最大的成就是不是终于学会体谅他人，但我确实是从这本书开始，开始思考我们的麻木会怎样伤害一个本来...  

正式开始教书这个行当已经三年多了。三年来没少和家人大吐苦水，抱怨自己有多辛苦。和大多数人一样，他们对此无法理解。 当老师多好啊，寒暑假，不用坐班，体面光鲜，受人尊重，上课不过是动动嘴皮子，真没什么好抱怨的。可是这其中的艰辛也只有教过书的人才深有体会。 这学期...

或许是书名打消了很多人的阅读欲望，以为一本讲当老师的书不会怎么有趣。 其实不然。 这本书是“巴学园”系列里我最中意的一本。《窗边的小豆豆》是不错，可对很多人来说，读到这本书时已经太迟；《教书匠》则不会，每个年龄段的人都能在这里找到触动自己的地...

Being a teacher leads me to this book. Before reading it, I took it for granted that a teacher with 30 years teaching career accumulated a pile of interesting stories. But this book tells more. Maybe it was the double identification that made Frank McCourt often sink into meditation. Half Irish, half American means that it's hard to find your hometown, especially spiritual. It's not the problem of Mr. McCourt alone; the mobil world today is filled with unnamed home sick.

Fear to freedom.

和第一本Angela's Ashes相比，写作风格上没有大的变化，但这本过于啰嗦。还是第一本读起来有味道。
